HOUSE RULES – Van der Valk Hotel Drachten
These house rules apply to all guests and visitors of Van der Valk Hotel Drachten. By entering and/or staying at the hotel, you agree to these house rules.
1. General Provisions
- All instructions from hotel staff related to safety, order, and compliance with these house rules must be followed at all times.
- Guests must behave in a manner that does not cause nuisance or disturbance to other guests, staff, or local residents.
- The hotel reserves the right to deny access to guests who violate these house rules.
- Any damage to hotel property or third-party property caused by negligence or actions of a guest, their visitor, or companion may be charged to the relevant guest, insofar as such damage can be demonstrably proven.
- The hotel may charge a security deposit upon arrival. After checkout, once the room has been inspected and found to be in good condition, the deposit will be refunded. The deposit will only be refunded to the guest who provided identification at check-in. Retention of (part of) the deposit will only occur if there is demonstrable damage or costs provably caused by the guest.
- A valid form of identification must be presented at check-in.
- Check-in is only possible for guests aged 18 or older.
- Guests should not leave personal belongings unattended. Van der Valk Hotel Drachten is not liable for loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings, unless there is demonstrable negligence on the part of the hotel.
- Parking on the premises of Van der Valk Hotel Drachten is free of charge and at your own risk.
- We respect your privacy during your stay. However, the hotel reserves the right to enter the room in cases of violation of the house rules, nuisance, emergencies, or other urgent circumstances, doing so as discreetly and carefully as possible.
2. Camera Surveillance
Camera surveillance is used in and around the hotel to protect the safety of guests, staff, and property. Camera footage may be used as supporting material in the event of incidents or emergencies and, if necessary, shared with the appropriate authorities.
3. Prohibited Activities
It is prohibited within Van der Valk Hotel Drachten to:
- Smoke in hotel rooms or public areas. A fine of €150.00 will be charged for violations.
- Possess, use, trade, or leave behind (soft) drugs, including nitrous oxide cartridges.
- Carry weapons or other dangerous objects.
- Receive guests in the hotel room in exchange for payment for sexual activities.
- Reserve a room in your name without staying in the room yourself.
- Stay in a room with more persons than the number for which the room was reserved.
- Receive visitors in the hotel room without permission from the hotel.
- Burn (tea light) candles or install party decorations in the room.
- Charge an e-bike battery in the hotel room; please use the designated charging points in the bicycle storage area.
- Film or photograph staff or other guests without their permission.
- Have meals delivered from external vendors without permission from the reception.
- Block or disable fire alarms. If, due to the actions of a guest, the fire alarm is activated and the fire brigade is unnecessarily required to respond, the call-out costs of €275.00 will be fully charged to the relevant guest.
- In cases of violations such as extreme pollution, unauthorized use of the room, or parties/events, costs may be charged in the event of demonstrable damage or negligence, ranging from €25.00 to a maximum of €250.00, depending on the severity and substantiation of the situation.
4. Nuisance
Causing nuisance or disturbance to other guests is not permitted. Nuisance includes, but is not limited to, loud music, noisy behavior, aggressive or intimidating conduct, and disturbance of other guests’ night’s rest. If nuisance arises due to a guest’s actions, any resulting costs may only be charged to the guest if they are demonstrable and result from the guest’s negligence. The guest is liable for damage suffered by the hotel as a result of nuisance, including costs for compensation to other guests, additional cleaning, or loss of revenue.
5. Zero-Tolerance Policy and Violations
The hotel operates a zero-tolerance policy. In the event of a violation of the house rules, a guest may be asked to leave the hotel immediately. In such cases:
No refund will be given for amounts already paid. A paid deposit may be retained only in the event of demonstrable damage or costs. In cases of serious violations, the hotel may make internal records for the purpose of safety and business operations. These records are used internally only and stored in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and a defined retention period.
6. Night’s Rest
Between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, guests are requested to be especially considerate of other guests’ night’s rest. In all cases not provided for in these house rules, the management of Van der Valk Hotel Drachten shall decide.
